Project Information

In replacing a school built in the 1980s and using the Living Building Challenge as a guideline, the Snohomish School District was able to get a building twice the size with roughly the same energy use. The new Valley View Middle School building doesn’t have solar panels on the roof yet, but because it was designed with a net-zero goal in mind, the district is benefiting from the extremely low energy costs that come with an energy use intensity of 22.4 kBtu/ft2·yr.
